Imperial War Museum North
"One of the Best exhibitions and buildings we have ever seen. The archive material makes the whole experience quite personal and moving. The staff are very helpful too"
Opened summer 2002 the award-winning Imperial War Museum North is one of the most talked about museums in Britain today. It is about people and their stories; how lives have been and still are shaped by war and conflict.
The Museum is housed in a remarkable building, the first in the UK to be designed by international architect Daniel Libeskind.
Objects are displayed from the Imperial War Museum's famous collections alongside The Big Picture - a multi-screen surround sound experience shown at hourly intervals throughout the day.
Find out about war and conflict from the 20th century and how it has shaped your life.
And as a major national museum, public entry to this thought-provoking attraction is completely free.
