Find out about the amazing story of the Markendale family who lived at Ordsall Hall from 1815 until 1871.
They were prosperous farmers, butchers and tanners and their story is fascinating! See the newly restored painting of Ellis Markendale (1790 - 1853) and learn of its journey from leaving the Hall and how it eventually came back again.
Income from ticket sales will go towards the restoration of the portrait of Ellis' wife - Mary, so she can be reunited with her husband and displayed at the Hall.
